It`s Sheep Herding Time

It`s Sheaphead catching time. Although D.I. Reef Monster is primarily an offshore fishing service, we love fishing for these tasty hard fighting fish. Being structure oriented, the Dauphin Island/ Alabama Gulf Coast area is surrounded by manmade structures that allow Sheep to flourish. Sheephead use their Austin Powers like teeth to crush barnacle off dock pilings, rig legs, jetty rocks, and seawalls. These fish are fairly easy to target, and do not require pricey specialized equipment or tackle. Most bait shops will have either live shrimp, dead shrimp, and even fiddler crabs. Some would argue over which baits actually works best, but we have found when they are ready to eat they are not picky.
